Intern, SDG Index (Reports)

The intern will work in the SDG Index team responsible for producing the Sustainable Development Report. Their main tasks will be to support the production of the upcoming SDG Index reports for Europe, Paraguay & Brazil and to support other projects related to SDG monitoring and statistics. Candidate must be able to hold an internship in France.

Tasks and responsibilities

1) Provide support for the preparation of SDG monitoring reports for Europe, Paraguay & Brazil.

  • Extract format and harmonize complex datasets
  • Run mathematical calculations and coding to finalize data
  • Contribute to the production of tables and graphs
  • Help drafting methodological sections and conduct sensitivity tests
  • Assist in reviewing draft sections submitted by the production company
  • Contribute to producing communication materials (infographics, country fact sheets, other) and support the dessemination of the results
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders when needed

2) Provide support for other SDG data and statistics projects

  • Support development of new measures to track domestic environmental and environmental impacts embodied into trade
  • Support the team's efforts to increase the re-use of SDG monitoring tools by businesses and investors
  • Conduct other analyses and research on SDG data and statistics at sub-national level and for supply chains and value chains


Academic background

Candidates should be pursuing an advanced degree in economics, statistics, international relations, environmental studies, political science, or any other related fields. They must be enrolled in a certified degree program (or be able to obtain a Convention de stage from their university) and have the right to hold an internship in France.

Professional background (desired, but not required)

  • Experience working with data and statistics (experience with Stata is a plus)
  • Knowledge of sustainable development and environment


  • This position requires written and spoken fluency in English
  • Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese would be a plus

Other skills required

  • Good knowledge of economics and statistics
  • Knowledge of Excel
  • Familiarity with Stata
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Internship duration

6 months from September 2020 until February 2021.

Compensation information

The intern will receive a gratification at the standard minimum hourly rate, plus 50% of transportation costs.
