ABOUT SDSN

The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has been operating since 2012 under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General. SDSN mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. We aim to accelerate joint learning and promote integrated approaches that address the interconnected economic, social, and environmental challenges confronting the world.

SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies, multilateral financing institutions, the private sector, and civil society. It is directed by Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs and operates through offices in New York, Paris, and Kuala Lumpur.

POSITION SUMMARY

SDSN is seeking a self-starter who can multi-task and has solid knowledge in accounting and bookkeeping practices in a non-profit environment. The candidate must be knowledgeable in complete accounting processes through general ledger and financial reconciliation, computerized accounting programs and other software (experience with Sage Intacct preferred). They must be able to work independently and as part of a dynamic, international team. They must have an impeccable attention for detail; strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills; and must possess the ability to work positively and supportively with all members of the organization.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Finance and grant management:

  • Manage entries in the accounting system (Intacct)

  • Manage the Paris books, including compiling supporting documentation and archiving

  • Help manage the Paris bank account (initiating payments, monitoring transactions, bank reconciliations, etc.)

  • Prepare quarterly cash requests to the New York office

  • Help prepare the annual budget for the Management & Operations department

  • Help with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes

  • Prepare budget files for upload to the organization’s financial system

  • Help with recording the Payroll for the New York office in the financial system and other bookkeeping activities as needed

  • Help with preparing donor invoices and donor financial reports

  • Review of staff expense reports

  • Review and submit requests for affiliate reimbursements

Payroll and human resources:

  • Enter pre-pay variables into the third-party payroll system (PayFit)

  • Manage staff/interns’ arrivals and departures and contractual changes in the payroll system

  • Review monthly payroll and make corrections in consultation with the Financial Controller

  • Process monthly salary tax declarations

  • Monitor staff leave

Audits:

  • Assist with annual audits in New York and Paris and grant-specific audits

General administration:

  • Manage the Paris office’s expense reimbursement and travel platforms, including setting up users and providing training

  • Help with setting up users and providing training to program team members on the accounting software

  • Contribute to revisions to the Finance Manual and the Employee Handbook

Any other task that may be requested in the context of the responsibilities above.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

  • All candidates must have the right to work in France

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience

  • Knowledge of Anglo-Saxon accounting desired

  • Knowledge of the financial system Sage Intacct is desired, but not required

  • Excellent level of English both oral and written (staff communications and work are largely done in English)

  • General knowledge of French labor law

  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel and Word

  • General knowledge of AI is desired

  • This position requires a high level of attention to detail and organization, the capacity to multi-task, and respond effectively to changing priorities

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Location: Paris 9e and two days teleworking

Contract Length: CDI

Salary: €38 000 – €45 000 gross per year

SYNTHESE DU POSTE A POURVOIR

SDSN est à la recherche d'une personne autonome qui peut effectuer plusieurs tâches et qui à des connaissances en comptabilité dans une organisation à but non lucratif. Le candidat doit connaître les processus comptables généraux et avoir déjà utilisé un logiciel de comptabilité (expérience avec Sage Intacct de préférence). Le.la candidat.e doit être capable de travailler de manière autonome et au sein d'une équipe dynamique et internationale. Attentif.ves aux détails, de solides compétences en analyse, en communication et en résolution de problèmes le.la candidat.e doit posséder la capacité de travailler de manière positive et collaborative avec tous les membres de l'organisation.

PRINCIPALES RESPONSABILITES

Finance et gestion de subventions :

  • Saisir des données dans le système financier (Intacct)

  • Tenir la comptabilité de l’association, y compris la gestion de l’archivage

  • Aider à gérer le compte bancaire du bureau de Paris (saisie de paiements sur la plateforme bancaire, suivre les transactions financières, rapprochements bancaires, etc.)

  • Préparer des appels de fonds au bureau de New-York

  • Contribuer à la préparation des budgets annuels

  • Contribuer aux activités de clôture mensuelle, trimestrielle et annuelle

  • Préparer les fichiers budgétaires à télécharger dans le système financier

  • Aider à la saisie des écritures de paie du bureau de New York dans le système financier et aux autres tâches comptables selon les besoins

  • Contribuer à la préparation des factures et des rapports financiers destinés aux donateurs

  • Vérifier les notes de frais du personnel

  • Vérifier et traiter les demandes de remboursement des affiliés

Paie et ressources humaines :

  • Saisir les variables dans le système de paie (PayFit)

  • Gérer les arrivées et départs des salariés/stagiaires ainsi que les changements contractuels dans le système de paie

  • Vérifier la paie mensuelle et effectuer les corrections en consultation avec la Contrôleuse financière

  • Préparer les déclarations mensuelles de taxes sur les salaires.

Gérer les congés du personnel

Audits :

  • Contribuer aux audits annuels (Paris et New-York) et les audits de projets

Administration, Général :

  • Gérer les plateformes de remboursement des frais et de déplacements du bureau de Paris et aider les utilisateurs à les utiliser.

  • Créer les comptes utilisateurs et former les équipes programmes à l’utilisation du logiciel comptable.

  • Participer à la mise à jour du Finance Manual et Employee Handbook.

Toute autre tâche qui pourrait lui être confiée dans le cadre des fonctions ci-dessus.

QUALIFICATIONS, FORMATION ET EXPERIENCE

  • Tout(e) candidat(e) doit avoir le droit de travailler en France.

  • 3 années d’expérience dans le domaine exigée

  • Connaissances de la comptabilité anglo-saxonne souhaitées

  • Connaissance et utilisation des systèmes de gestion financière et de comptabilité requises, connaissance de Sage Intacct souhaitée

  • Excellent niveau d’anglais à l’écrit et à l’oral

  • Connaissances en droit du travail français

  • Utilisation avancée d’Excel et Word

  • Une connaissance générale de l’IA est souhaitée

  • Ce poste nécessite une grande attention au détail, la capacité d’être multitâche et réactif/ve et beaucoup d’organisation.
